Searching large volumes of emails a factor in choosing ediscovery vendor
25 Jan
With the proliferation of email communication as a means for concluding both business and other commercial transactions, ediscovery vendors have had to clearly create solutions that need to cater for the large volumes of emails sent on a daily basis. Storage and archiving of the emails is simply just one issue in the overall functionality of email discovery, with search speed and accuracy a driving factor for comparison. Furthermore, the exponential trend in both email and electronic media creation does not seem to be abating, and vendors will need to ensure that any application provided to clients is scalable in nature. Some of the vendors have thus turned to grid computing architectures, to ensure that velocity and accuracy of searches can be maintained, and to ensure that the user experience is not diminished due to lengthy search delays. A further aspect to consider is the use of social media for business purposes, which may further add to the large volumes of electronic data that need to be ingested and analyzed. Companies need to ensure that they select a vendor that is able to categorize and analyze numerous data sources. Furthermore, multiple formats should be able to be handled and catered for in the final solution. These formats may include video and audio, as well as other electronic media types.
