However, when it comes to intermittent fasting, and intermittent fasting diets, most individuals have never heard of this type of dieting method. The dieting method is exactly the way it sounds, and is basically a lifestyle eating choice where for once or twice a week, the dieter fasts, and during this fasting period is only allowed to drink water. The dieting method has been known to make individuals lose weight extremely quickly, and contrary to popular belief, is not unhealthy and detrimental to the dieter’s health. The basic premise of any diet is that the body is burning more calories than the intake. So the intermittent fasting diet forces the body to consume fat cells for energy, as on those fasting days, no calories are being consumed. Intermittent fasting thus ensures that the metabolism is enhanced, which ultimately leads to fairly rapid weight loss. Many individuals may consider it to be an unhealthy practice, but fasting has been commonplace in Eastern cultures for many decades. It is simply the Western world that considers it taboo, but surprisingly, it is the Western world that has the most incidences of obesity and over weight citizens.
